Shaolin Showdown is the type of song they should play after Rue gets out of rehab if she ever goes. It has an air of enlightenment to it that still acknowledges the darkness that helped guide and sharpen a new paradigm. The bible was a comfort to me at the time while I was writing this, so there are a bunch of biblical references.
“switched it up to keep the steps certain
saw the light was good
it hurt my head to keep my eyes open
we in hollywood
but it get lonely at the summit of the mountain
no one to hold me down or watch my back”
This is a reference to the story of Moses and his ascension of the mountain. His people sent him because he was the only one with the sauce to chat with God and come out unscathed. It’s nice to be needed, but that designation as a chosen one can also be very isolating.
